Great Question lets you run research without penalties or limitations

Enterprise teams outgrow UserTesting. Per-interview pricing, panel lock-in, and fragmented workflows slow teams down and push costs up.

UserTesting was acquired by Thoma Bravo, who then bought UserZoom, EnjoyHQ and User Interviews and merged them. The result is a bolt-on platform with credit-based pricing and concurrent-study limits. Great Question was built as one platform: recruitment, testing, analysis and repository in a single tool.

Note from Great Question CEO & Co-Founder

"I built Great Question because I was tired of seeing research teams locked into expensive contracts with expiring credits and confusing 'swimlanes.'UserTesting was built in an era when enterprise meant complexity. They've acquired multiple companies (UserZoom, EnjoyHQ) and stitched them together. That works for some, but we kept hearing from teams who wanted simplicity, transparency, and the freedom to research their own customers without extra fees. The $15,000+ savings our customers report isn't a marketing gimmick - it's real. Procare Solutions, for example, went from 2 expensive seats to 10 affordable ones, plus unlimited observers. That's research democratization in action. If you're happy with UserTesting and the credit system works for you, that's great. But if you've ever felt nickel-and-dimed for researching your own customers or frustrated by expired credits, we built Great Question for you."

Talk to your customers, don't just read reports

Marvin can't help you find participants. Great Question syncs with Salesforce, Snowflake, and more, so you're researching with the people who actually use your product.

5 minutes to research launch

Build a study, recruit participants, and start collecting insights before your coffee gets cold. No tab-switching, no manual uploads, no waiting.

Every research method. Just get one tool

Pick your method, run the study, and the data flows straight into an AI repository with 100x the context window. No exports, no uploads, no "let me check which tool we use for that."

5 more reasons why switching to Great Question makes sense

#1 Better for research with customers

No additional cost

Sync with Salesforce, Snowflake or HubSpot, or import a list, and invite your own customers by email or link. No session units, no per-interview charge for talking to people who already use your product.

Avg. $75 per interview

UserTesting charges you to run research with your own customers. Make that make sense.

#2 Choose higher quality panels

Low fraud rates & higher quality

Recruit from two different panel providers, with over 6M+ B2B & B2C research participants, including niche audiences.

1 panel, limited reach

UserTesting limits you its own panel, which has 1M participants in 35 countries.

#3 Pricing should be predictable

Clear and transparent pricing

Flexible plans for teams of all sizes: Self-service ($129 per user per month) and Enterprise (customized). No expiry, no swimlanes deciding how many studies you can run at once.

Clearly too expensive

UserTesting’s confusing credit system makes it hard to predict costs, unused credits expire, and “swimlanes” limit the types and number of studies you can run at once.

#4 Designed to democratize

No limitations on democratization

Flexible permissions and guardrails make it easy to get your team involved, while protecting customer data with enterprise-grade security.

Priced to incentivise silos

Adding extra users in UserTesting is costly, forcing teams to use shared logins and other workarounds to get others involved in research. It’s a real PITA – and that’s no way to grow.

#5 Their AI is incredibly clunky & behind

Clear and transparent pricing

Great Question's AI is lightyears ahead. We have the most comprehensive MCP in the market, an agentic moderator, agentic prototype testing, and an AI respository that can search and summarize 1000s of interview data.

Their AI is playing catchup

UserTesting's AI writes your test plan and summarises the recording afterward. A person still has to run the interview, and the summary stops at the edge of that one study. Their MCP is only just coming into beta now.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between UserTesting's AI and Great Question's AI?
Scope. UserTesting's AI works within a study: it drafts the plan, then summarises the results. Great Question's AI works across your whole research programme, it moderates sessions, and its analysis spans every study in your repository, so you can ask a question once and get an answer drawn from years of research rather than one project folder. Great Question's MCP is the most comprehensive in market, it has 115+ actions you can take with it.
Does UserTesting have AI features?
Yes. UserTesting has added AI-generated test plans, AI summaries of sessions and imported videos, AI-optimised participant invitations, and AI fraud detection, plus an MCP server in open beta. What it doesn't have is an AI that runs the interview. Every UserTesting AI feature sits either side of a session a human moderated or a participant recorded alone. Great Question's AI moderator conducts the interview itself, asking follow-up questions based on what the participant just said, and they have the most comprehensive MCP in the market for UX research teams.
What's the main difference between Great Question and UserTesting?
Great Question is a single platform covering recruitment, moderated and unmoderated testing, surveys, analysis, and a research repository. UserTesting is primarily a panel-based testing tool, with repository, analysis and recruitment added through the UserZoom, EnjoyHQ and User Interviews acquisitions. Check out our blog post for more detail.
How does UserTesting's pricing work?
UserTesting uses a credit-based model with "swimlanes" that limit how many concurrent studies you can run, and credits expire if unused. Adding users costs extra, which leads many teams to share logins. Great Question uses flat per-seat pricing with unlimited observer seats.
